Students or fresh graduates who attended courses related to aerosol technology or with some expertise in the field can apply to obtain research grants. The application is made by answering a public call published officially by Politecnico di Torino. A committee evaluates the curricula vitae of applicants, and based on the outcome, the grant is awarded to the students according to the priority list. For this reason, students with some specific background are more likely to be selected.

It is important to note that these funded activities are not directly related to the other activities listed in the mentoring section. Hence, students without previous knowledge of aerosol technology are welcome to develop their theses and dissertations in the lab.
